Hiking in Wissahickon Valley Park

“A rainy day is the perfect time for a walk in the woods.”

I bought Mike a new hiking pack for his birthday, and we were eager for a chance to test it out before our backpacking trip in West Virginia’s Dolly Sods Wilderness Area. We planned our 5-mile hike for a Tuesday after work, and decided to keep our plans despite the impending rain. We got about two thirds through our hike when the skies opened up on us, and we got absolutely soaked. Getting soaked and walking through thunder above our heads was kind of rough, but the good part was the weather seemed to scare off most everyone else, so we had the woods all to ourselves.
